Bangalore, July 25: Terror hit Bangalore Friday afternoon as nine low intensity blasts ripped through different parts of the IT city. Majority of explosions took place within a span of half an hour, starting at 1:45 pm. The sites that were targetted were Madiwala, Adugodi area, Koramangla, Hosur Road, Nayandahalli and Shivaji Nagar on Mysore Road and Langford Town. There were unconfirmed reports that the last two blasts took place in the evening around 5.30 pm near Gopalan Mall also on Mysore Road and at north Bangalore near a flyover.

Home Minister Shivraj Patil said in New Delhi two persons were killed and 12 injured in the blasts which the state police and the government were fighting shy of calling it a terror attack. They called the explosions an attempt by anti-national and anti-social elements to create panic and disrupt peace.

Ahmedabad, July 26: A day after a series of explosions rocked the IT city of Bangalore, over seventeen blasts went off in Ahmedabad Saturday evening. Lashkar and HuJI have claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Prime Minister has announced ex gratia payment of Rs 1 lakh for the kin of those killed in explosions. The injured will be given Rs 50,000/- each.

17 in 90 minutes

All blasts went off in a span of 90 minutes starting 6:45 pm.

The first two blasts were reported in Chakla area of Raipur and Narole Circle of Maninagar. Then another blast was reported from Saranpur area of Raipur. Soon after another followed in Maninagar again.

Maninagar also happens to be the constituency of Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Bapu Nagar and Diamond Market are in the Old City area which is very congested particularly on Saturday evening. There are reports that splinters from the explosion have set off small fires in some areas.

A seventh explosion took place in Sarkhej. Though details are not known, there are reports that the bomb here went off in CNG bus.
